Too often, consulting services revolve around fashionable concepts and technologies (re-engineering, CRM, SCM, KM, e-business, data warehouses, portals…). Such services are often expensive and their return on investment frequently remains hypothetical.
As useful as new approaches and tools might be, their novelty and grand promises should not distract from businesses' ultimate objectives. No company can afford to embrace management theories and tools simply because they are in vogue. Business is about optimising return on investment, which means focusing the organization on the bottom line at the lowest possible cost.

In some cases, this requires organizational reform or implementing new information systems. In others, smaller and more focused projects enable the company to define and, more importantly, actually achieve higher goals. There is no lack of stories showing how sweeping reengineering or radical overhaul of information systems can entail fabulous cost at no or even negative added value. In all these cases, companies paid the price of applying new concepts or technologies while losing sight of the initial business objective. "Systems without organisation is the death of the business"….

As business consultants, ESOPE first duty is to help its clients to define economic added value projects, and then work all the way up to the actual changeover, as close as possible to the target.
